What a beautiful tribute to Father Rick and the entire Gantert family.
Thank you to all who made the race what is was. Father Rick holds a special
place in our hearts and we will continue to keep his spirit alive. Father
Rick was our New Year's miracle, a sign from our son, that he was free and
happy and we could let go of our sorrow and grief. This was reiterated to
us yesterday by the numerous butterflies seen throughout the four mile
walk. We love you Father Rick. We love you Gantert family. Karen and Mike

When I was in the eighth grade at Our Lady of Sorrows I broke my arm the
night before
Eaglefest and spent the entire next day in the rectory with Fr. Rick
watching football.
That was the best Saturday football day I have ever had. Fr. Rick was
my baseball coach in middle school at OLS. Everyday before practice I would
have him throw his knuckle ball for me, it almost knocked me out several
times and I never was able to get the technique down. He was a great
coach and friend. Alan Presson

The memories are too numerous to recant, but the lessons learned, friendship
shared, and masses celebrated will always be a source of inspiration to me
and my family. Fr. Rick and Larry were good friends and loved to poke at
each other. Unfortunately Larry and Fr. Rick had stories to share regarding
illnesses and time spent in the hospital. To listen to them commiserate
over hospital stories was something to hear. Fr. Rick's support during
family crisis is cherished. He taught me so much during my tenure as DRE.
I could never have accomplished the work without his support and guidance.
The race was such a great memorial to a wonderful man. His family has much
to be proud of. I know that our loss is only a fraction of what they have
lost, but he is celebrating with our heavenly Father and that brings me
peace. Janie Hall

Fr. Rick was my best friend. He new your best qualities and could
bring them out in you when you least expected. My children grew up
around him, we shared happy and sad times with him, he was always there when
you needed him. Rick and I would meet for lunch from time to time and
those memories I will always cherish. When I would hear him come
through the door of the office I knew it was going to be a good day. I
will never forget him showing up at my house one Saturday morning, I was out
in my yard working on getting the pool and backyard ready for summer, you
can imagine what I thought when I saw his car in the driveway! I ran
inside and tried to get presentable for a special visit from Rick.
Little did I know he just dropped by to make sure the pool was ready for the
PRE party that he had planned in his mind. We had the party just as he
wished. We showed up one Sunday for mass at St. Paul and he got the
biggest kick out of us being there for the Spanish mass not understanding a
word. As Fr. Rick always use to say "If you can conceive of the idea
you can do it." that quote of his has led me in many directions in my life,
none of which I regret. He loved my Oatmeal Raisin cookies and I made
them for his birthday, tomorrow I will make them and remember all the good
times with him. I miss you and think of you everyday! Linda
